Duck Pond

by Phil Porter

I used to go to the duck pond on Nakoma Road to feed the ducks. This is a painting of the king duck. You can tell it’s the king duck because I gave it a crown.

Governor’s Mansion

by Phil Porter

I started out painting the capitol. I got to a point where I didn't like how it was turning out, so I turned it into the governor's mansion. Before that it was looking like a capitol without a dome. Now that would be a sorry sight!

State Street in Madison

by Phil Porter

Here’s the Orpheum Theater on State Street. I’ve always gone to movies there. There’s the Capitol Theater, too. They tore it down and turned it into the Civic Center. I wish it was still there. I hope the Orpheum never gets knocked down.

The Red Gym and the Capitol

by Phil Porter

I got the idea from a postcard I have of the Red Gym and the Capitol together. Since my great grandfather was the architect for both of those buildings, I thought it would be a good idea to paint it that way.
